World of Warcraft is revealing Midnight again next week, this time with Chris Metzen, ahead of close

If you were unhappy with the World of Warcraft Midnight delivery at Gamescom, good news: Blizzard appears to be going for a bit of a do-over next week, just in time to upstage all the big MMORPG releases coming in October. Hey, some things never change.

On October 1st, we’re getting a “Deep Dive broadcast at 9:00 am PDT with an introduction from Creative Director Chris Metzen and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas” with a “look at the zones, story, and features of the expansion.” The lack of the anticipated dose of Metzen at Gamescom was one of WoW fans’ chief complaints, you’ll recall. Following that, we’re getting a live (yes) Q&A on the expansion with Hazzikostas and other key devs. Players can submit questions ahead of time, so they’ll still be vetted.

The closed alpha for Midnight begins October 1st, though of course it’ll be locked to selected family and influencers initially. Blizzard has released a roadmap of the phases, without any dates or timelines, but at least it’s a high-altitude overview of what to expect.

Midnight itself isn’t coming out until next year (the hard deadline is before July), though Blizzard will be trickling out some content, like housing, much earlier.
