Even with the damage that layoffs at ZeniMax Online Studios has brought, studio game director Rich Lambert is still eager not just to push forward but to create more games according to a recent interview he held with GamesIndustry. And those aspirations definitely sound sky-high to us.
“I want us to be the most successful studio in our entire organization,” Lambert says. “That’s a big thing to say because we’ve got Bethesda Game Studios, we’ve got MachineGames, and id – the list goes on. But I want us to be that group that everybody looks at. […] You look at Todd Howard’s group and […] it’s, like, five Game of the Years in a row, and this massive legacy and all that. That’s what I want us to do.”
This, of course, does mean a desire to make more games, something that Lambert says is a thing that devs at ZOS also want to do. And while the initial concern is that this will mean a lack of support for Elder Scrolls Online, Lambert argues that both it and Fallout 76 co-exist together just fine, and so the team is eager to make another title. “I have lots of ideas. Hopefully we’ll be able to share those at some point,” he says.
Hey, we have an idea we’d like to share, check it. It’s an MMO shooter called Blackbird. We’d bet it would be incredible and so good that even a Microsoft exec would be hard-pressed to stop playing. Think about it.
