Pax Dei is killing off its launcher and moving fully to Steam as it introduces, um, ‘plot slot

Upcoming MMORPG sandbox Pax Dei released multiple PSAs for early access testers this morning in Discord, starting with the news that the standalone launcher is going to a farm upstate.

“In the coming weeks, we will be decommissioning the Pax Dei launcher, which means you won’t be able to access the game via the launcher anymore,” Mainframe Industries says. “To compensate for this, all Founders currently using the Pax Dei Launcher will receive a Steam key later this week, granting access to the game on Steam going forward. All the Founder’s Pack perks, including the Gallian Gargoyle received for purchasing through the official website, will carry over seamlessly.”

To take the sting out of that announcement, the team has also teased what’s coming in the “minor” autumn content release: new tutorials for new players, tweaks to lighting-related performance, and the new token system for plots, thereby introducing the term “plot slot” into the MMORPG vernacular. Basically, players use their tokens in plot slots to renew their plots and get new plots. You can also manage your tokens manually; if you don’t renew your plot slots, however, they become frozen. We are not making this up.

“You can disable auto-renew if you’d prefer to manage your tokens manually. If a Plot Slot is not renewed, it becomes frozen. A frozen plot cannot be built on, and if it isn’t renewed within three days, both the plot and its related Plot Slot will be automatically released.”

We’re just gonna be over here snickering like teenagers, pardon us.
