Fans of author Christie Golden and video game novels in general should rejoice to hear that Golden’s World of Warcraft: Midnight prequel novel is hitting store shelves on November 17th.

World of Warcraft Midnight: Blood Ties sets the stage for events that will unfold during next year’s second expansion in the Worldsoul Saga: “This novel chronicles the journey of Arator the Redeemer, son of High Exarch Turalyon and the legendary Alleria Windrunner, as he embarks on a journey investigating rumors of a strange glow emanating from the ruins of a long abandoned Legion base, which leads him to uncover more about himself, his parents, and their heroic legacy.”

Golden, a New York Times bestselling author, used to be a well-known writer on the World of Warcraft team before Blizzard let her go in 2024 in one of multiple post-acquisition layoff waves that Microsoft promised it would not undertake and then did anyway. However, she reportedly maintains a good relationship with the studio and continues her work of writing novels set in Blizzard’s worlds.
