Elite Dangerous delays its Type-11 ship release to make adjustments based on tester feedback

Today, September 23rd, was meant to be the day that Elite: Dangerous would release its new rock crunching Type-11 Prospector mining ship, but apparently some initial feedback from those who got their hands on the ship ahead of time has caused Frontier Developments to push that launch back to make some changes.

The studio confirmed that the Type-11 will instead arrive sometime “early next week” in order to allow the team to make changes that include improvements to the ship’s mining ability and limpet speed, the removal of flashing lights in the cockpit when its bespoke mining volley repeater is in use, audio tweaks to the repeater, and a rebalancing of its flight model on top of other unspecified fixes.

FDev confirmed that these adjustments have come as a result of feedback from players within the game’s partner program, one of whom is Commander Buur of the YouTube channel The Buur Pit, who provided his own initial response to the Type-11 in a video last week. Those impressions can be watched below for those who were curious, but know that what’s described in the video and what the ship will be capable of at launch will evidently be different.
