If you fancy a multiplayer roguelite stealing your weekend, Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree has offered itself up for your amusement. Bamco and studio Brownies Inc. have officially launched the game globally on console and PC as of today. The studios are calling it a “roguelite action-adventure game” that can be played via singleplayer, local co-op, and online multiplayer.

“Engage in sword- and magic-based combat with eight charming playable characters in intense 2D isometric gameplay, as players battle to save Shinju Village and the fate of the world from the evil Magatsu and his army of Magaori,” the teams write.

“Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree features engaging game play with fast-paced action, gorgeous hand-drawn style characters, stunning painterly scenery, and a unique soundtrack by legendary composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. These come together to create a colorful world where visually peaceful splendor belies a lurking threat, and where courage is the only way forward. Set in distant lands, the tranquil Shinju village is threatened by the evil Magatsu’s quest for domination. Towa, the priestess of Shinju Village, stands united with eight unique, trustworthy and adorable companions to defeat Magatsu and his evil minions.

Launch today covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Do note that it’s $29.99, but there’s a demo you can try first if you’re so inclined.
