The multiplayer bullet hell of Temtem Swarm has gotten itself another update, and much like prior ones, this patch adds another area, another critter, and more refinements to existing game systems. Not necessarily a bad thing, we should point out; more is always good for early access games.
The new area in question is Pansun, a new arena featuring critters of fire, earth, and crystal types, along with a pair of new minibosses, a new boss, and some new music. Joining the fray for this update will be the fire and earth lizard friend Pycko and its evolved form Drakash and a playstyle described by developer Crema as fast-paced and chaotic.
Another major feature for the latest patch is a revamp for kudos, aka the game’s achievement system. Kudos are now in an easier to read list instead of a weird hexagonal tree, feature information on how to earn the related cheevo, and can be tracked with a new in-game UI element that shows kudos associated with the Tem in use.
Other additions in this update include a new dodge ability, opacity settings for technique visuals, cursor customization options, and new hacking modifiers, gear, and glitches (the beneficial kinds). It’s all laid out in the patch notes.
Taking a quick temperature check, we find Swarm sits on a mostly positive Steam review aggregate, while the patch’s arrival has seen it rise to a new concurrency peak of 367 at the time of this story’s writing, while its maintenance-moded MMO counterpart Temtem is not too far away with a 315 24-hour player peak as of last Sunday.
