Operation Nemesis, the open test for EVE Vanguard, went live last week after nine months of work since the last test, and it’s been all hands on deck for CCP ever since. After a weekend of play, problem solving, and feedback, the devs assembled for a 19-minute video to talk about how the OBT for Vanguard’s been proceeding.
“When Nemesis began, we wanted players to come in and break stuff,” said the studio. And break they did, although it does sound like there are more positives about the test than drawbacks. “It’s been wild. You don’t realize how good it is to be live.”
“We could not ask for better feedback,” said CCP, noting how detailed and helpful testers have been on the forums, Discord, and Reddit. Fixes for many noted issues are in the works, which is kind of how this whole process happens. Some sticky problems with insurgency and losing inventory are being investigated as well.
“There’s a lot in the key art that’s hinting about stuff we’re working toward in the future,” a dev teased, noting a drone floating over a character’s head and ties in to EVE lore.
Over the weekend, plenty of people were watching Vanguard streams, with a peak of over 14,000 viewers on Twitch.
