It’s Talk Like A Pirate Day, which means even MMORPGs that aren’t really very pirate-y join in the fun. This year, apparently that includes the officially licensed City of Heroes Homecoming servers, though if you’re not paying attention, you’ll definitely miss it because the devs kinda sneaked it in.

We first learned about it from MOP reader Yrys (hi Yrys!), who pointed it out to us. Last night, players started mentioning in Discord that treasure chests had started popping up all over the city. Homecoming devs initially responded with only cryptic teases.

“Matey, all I’ll be sayin’ is ye ought to gather the treasure, but don’t ye be too greedy, or ye’ll feel the wrath o’ Captain Bladehook the Red!” Faultline posted. “Yer pockets be burstin’ with plunder, aye! We scallywags be drawn to certain sparklin’ treasures in yer Salvage.”

Posters on the forums have pieced together that the glowies are in the exact same spot as the clickies for the anniversary event and winter event, so they should be easy to spot; you’ll click on them for various types of salvage, ghost mobs, and a megaboss. Faultline also clarified that the event runs all weekend, won’t include badges, and drops nice loot but nothing unique, so don’t panic. Oh yeah, and maybe don’t play on Excelsior. Excelsiarrrrrr.
