Looking back.

For many years now, Dungeons and Dragons fans have enjoyed the opportunity to play not one but two MMORPG adaptations of their favorite pen-and-pencil game. Both Neverwinter and Dungeons and Dragons Online offered their unique takes on the franchise, and both continue to pump out new events and content to this year.

However, D&D owner Wizards of the Coast said that it might be open to the possibility of even more MMOs set in this world.

WotC President (and former World of Warcraft Executive Producer) John Hight told Games Industry that the company and its several studios are working on various upcoming Magic the Gathering and D&D titles. When asked if Wizards would be open to a huge MMO that would try to compete on the same level as WoW, Hight entertained the notion.

“I’d love to have that,” Hight replied. “I think that we’ll want to rethink what an MMO is in this day and age […] I think in our case, it’s probably a crawl, walk, run [situation]. We want to make sure that we’ve assembled the talent, we have the backend technology, we have the plans to pursue. But of course, that’s a glimmer in my eye. I want to see that happen.”
