Dune: Awakening fans already have plenty to look forward to, as the survival MMO unveiled a roadmap reaching into 2026 as well as its upcoming September 10th chapter and DLC, but it would appear that they should have even more to look forward to, at least if recent interviews have any indication.
First, an interview from WCCFTech with game director Joel Bylos offered some insight into the game’s three-month content cadence and some of the directions it’s looking at. Some of those updates include creating some bespoke PvE endgame experiences like assassinations and group dungeons that are tied to the Landsraad, ultimately with the idea of bringing FFA PvP back to the Deep Desert while giving PvE players activities of their own. Bylos also projects that Chapter 3 should arrive sometime early next year alongside a console release and possible cross-platform play.
In another interview from GamesRadar with production director Ole Andreas, there’s talk of a 10-year plan for Dune already in place, which he says grants the opportunity for Funcom to dig into things that didn’t make it for launch and build out more of the universe. These aspirations include the polar region of Arrakis, the arrival of the Fremen, and going to new planets such as the Atreides homeworld of Caladan.
