There is a character on my World of Warcraft account I have basically never played and yet refuse to delete. Why? Because his name is Grignr. If you don’t understand why that matters, just be assured that people who do understand why that matters no doubt agree that you can’t get rid of him because his name is Grignr. And that’s probably the worst name I’ve ever given a character, which is also excellent because his name is Grignr.

There are a lot of ordinary-bad names out there in any MMO. For every creative name or lore-appropriate name in the batch, you get someone who decided to name a character “Kirito Legolas” or whatever. But then you have people whose bad names shoot the moon, and you have perfect moments like the Gnome I met named “McFart” or the one named “Viewing Cutscene.” Or my superhero named “Javier Placeholder.” So what’s the worst name you’ve ever given a character in an MMO?
