The knobs continue to be turned by Destiny 2 developer Bungie, as its latest newsletter is all about addressing problems with its latest patch and its overall Edge of Fate release, particularly in regards to rewards and power progression.
The studio opens by pointing out adjustments made in a patch last week that improved base rewards for a wide assortment of fireteam and pinnacle activities in the portal, but it also promises extra updates in the immediate future. Some of these include greater rewards from raid content in a patch due September 23rd, speeding up overall power climb in general on top of bonus engram rewards and a catch-up mechanic in “an upcoming patch,” and adding more robust weekly challenge rewards in future expansions and seasons.
Reactions to these plans have been met with what looks to be a healthy dose of skepticism, as fans on Twitter and Reddit voice their general distrust in Bungie’s ability to make looting in the looter shooter feel rewarding along with calls to remove power level grinding altogether, though there are a few messages of encouragement and support intermingled with the salt. Meanwhile, the game’s player counts on Steam has dipped by 50%, so it still seems like it’s a troubling time in the game.
