Star Wars Galaxies Legends player devs are hard at work on the Bespin Revitalization Project

Star Wars Galaxies rogue server Legends has been pretty quiet this year following the finale launch of the Jedi Themepark last spring, a fact that the player devs acknowledge in the game’s most recent dev blog, which covers the January to August period but was posted only last week.

“[I]t’s been a good while since we’ve had a dev diary,” the team writes. “As you could probably guess, it’s been a busy year, a big senate patch in February, new content update in March, Jedi Themepark Part 2 in May, Seasonal Vendors in June and Lootboxes in July, our team has been busy.” But the most intriguing parts of the blog come at the end, when the team shifts to discussing the future of the server and more specifically the ongoing revamp of Bespin, the custom planet added back in 2021. Readers will remember we did a long piece focused on problems with Bespin’s spectacular but underutilized apartment system earlier this year.

“On the Bespin side of things our Bespin 2.0 Team met for the first time in early July to begin compiling the information everyone had submitted over the previous months,” the devs say. “To bring people back to Bespin they need a reason to, and the way to do that also should be focused through repeatable content. If new quest lines are added they should end with or unlock repeatable dailies that either keep you coming to Bespin, or focus Bespin as a hub. Another area of repeatable content we’re looking at is three new group activities, a world boss, a heroic, and expanded the Bespin Underground Arena. Our desire to build up Bespin led to our Bespin 2.0 team beginning to lay the foundation for all three.”

The devs also talk about the upcoming gundark world boss, new weaponry, updates to the Halloween event, the pistoleer bounty hunter, space hitboxes, tweaks for the Sacred Jedi Texts, and the commando project. Maybe even chef content, if you decide to read into the spatula joke as I am doing.

“But the fun for Bespin isn’t done with just those big three announcements, new rewards, new quest lines, expanding/reworking parts of the Space Zone, adding a new city invasion, and adding the PvP Platform as an option in the Flashpoint Rotation are just a few of the things we’re looking at adding as we continue working on revitalizing Bespin. At this time we do not have a release date as this is a larger update that has a lot of moving parts and has many hands involved working on different pieces. As we move forward into the latter half of 2025 we’ll continue to provide more details and information about what’s coming with our Bespin Revitalization Project.”
