It’s been a helluva long wait for Ship of Heroes: Expected to launch on August 18th, it has been delayed several times over Steam shenanigans, and now, we’re finally locking in on a September 22nd release, more than a month later. But there’s been one curious detail missing from the discussion about the game in the lead-up to its release, and that’s how much it’s gonna set you back. As of this morning, we finally have a better idea what the game’s monetization will look like.

“The initial download and an active subscription will give access to everything in the game,” studio Heroic Games says. “There are no microtransactions, no cash shop, no premium add-ons, no deluxe launch package. The initial download of $59.99 plus an active subscription gives access to everything currently in the game and added in the two years after launch. One month access is included in the initial download fee.”

In addition to that $59.99 fee, the sub after the first month will cost $15, though you can save by buying longer subs, up to 20% off for buying a year ahead. The game will have no microtransactions at all, mind you. The devs point out that the box fee includes 10 character slots, full character customization, all archetypes and powers, all mission and raid content, housing, and 2500 in-game currency for one character.

Do note that a partial wipe will indeed happen before the rollout on Monday.

“Characters in existing accounts will be returned to level 1 and their progress will be wiped (missions and achievements). Powers, equipped augments, infusions, inventory items will be removed. So will housing. Character name and appearances will be retained. The appearance of characters created many years ago may have been altered by the many changes to the character creator. You will be able to choose your archetype and starting powers for your existing characters either in the character creator or by visiting a Power Trainer. We are grateful to those who helped us test the game during development. As a thank you, those players will start with the Beta Tester badge.”
