Welcome back to another roundup of MMOs and MMO-adjacent multiplayer games you’ve never heard of! Technically speaking, anyway; we’ve reported on a couple of these titles before, but there have been some developments on those fronts. So maybe call this MMOs and multiplayer games you’ve probably heard of once before but kind of forgot they’re a thing until we reminded you. Rolls off the tongue.
Astrobotanica
We’ll begin with Astrobotanica, the “science-driven” co-op survival crafting game from Space Goblin Studio that we first reported on this past May. Since then, the studio has confirmed that it will enter early access sometime this winter, with a playable demo coming during the fall Steam Next Fest from October 13th through the 20th.
Swapmeat
Next is Swapmeat the oddball co-op roguelite shooter from One More Game that we first reported on last year; it sees players hunting down aliens for their meat and exchanging their body parts as they go. Following a final open playtest that’s set to end this week, the game will begin its early access sometime in October.
Disposable Corps
Lastly we come to the new game on this list, Disopsable Corps, a low-poly 5v5 tactical shooter from indie dev Armoured Dudes and publisher Light Up Games. In this game, players are thrust into an alt-universe version of WWI that folds in steampunk mechs into the otherwise historical arms of the period. Gameplay sees sides digging trenches, building fortifications, and engaging in real-time destruction to hopefully ruin all of that hard work and defense, all while coordinating charges and close quarters fighting through squad command. A launch date isn’t tied down but a demo is on Steam.
