With International Talk Like a Pirate Day arriving on Friday, savvy geeks everywhere are embracing the spirit of the sea, wanton plunder, and grizzled nautical language. It’s always around this time of year that Lord of the Rings Online adds its own unique Middle-earth flavor to this holiday. That means, yes, its pair of limited-time sea-themed quests have returned to the game this weekend.

Play LOTRO for freePlayers have a few days (until September 23rd) to participate in The Tale of the Shipwrecked Mariners and Stowaway: The Old Man on the Shore. These quests (and associated missions) award a number of piratey accoutrements, including eyepatches and a full cosmetic outfit.

LOTRO also released Update 45.4.1 yesterday with a promised fix to a “specific gameplay performance concern” that the devs had been targeting.
