I don’t think I’m alone in feeling nervous about what Blizzard has been planning with the Diablo franchise lately. I mean, there’s whatever is going on with the dating for the almost-forgotten Diablo III season, but even just in Diablo IV alone, it’s been crickets, leaks, and reruns, and then the team (finally!) unionized amidst Blizzard’s chaos, never mind Rod Fergusson upping sticks for BioShock.

But as of this afternoon, Blizzard has finally got its act together and revealed its next season: Season of Infernal Chaos. Generic, but it’ll do. “Infernal Chaos, arriving September 23. In Season 10, chaos consumes Sanctuary as the dreaded Bartuc, Lord of Chaos, emerges,” Blizzard says. “Players will face reworked Infernal Hordes, battle through Chaos Rifts, and harness devastating Chaos Perks to carve their path through absolute madness.”

“Earn Seasonal progression, Viz-Jaq’taar Veneration, by sealing Chaos Rifts in Helltide and Nightmare Dungeons. Earn Magic, Rare, and Legendary Chaos Perks by progressing through the Seasonal Reputation board. Earn Unique Chaos Perks by defeating Bartuc in Torment Tiers. Upgrade Chaos Perks by earning Infernal Warp through sealing Chaos Rifts and defeating Chaos Monsters. Chaos Armor can be earned from many sources across the game, while Bartuc is an excellent source of Chaos Armor in Torment Tiers with a guaranteed drop chance in Torment III and IV.”

Season of Infernal Chaos launches September 23rd.
