The Daily Grind: Do you follow world first races in online games?

very complicated

For the life of me, I have never personally understood caring about progression groups racing to see who gets the first clear on difficult content. It has never been interesting to me. I do not care which group of people I wouldn’t really like in person manages to hit a milestone that I do not care about first.

Of course, I also feel much the same way about sports in general, and I have a number of friends who do really care about this stuff. And that’s fine. While I do not share their enthusiasm in any way, shape, or form, I respect that they really want to see how a world first race shakes out. They’re having fun. It just means that our interests do not overlap in that particular occasion.

So what about you, dear readers? Do you follow world first races and eagerly wait to see who manages to get a first clear? Or do you not particularly care about it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
